Durham Osteopilates was founded by Diana Thurston to deliver her unique blend of experience and skills acquired during a successful life-long career in healthcare. Originally a pharmacist, Diana's interest in health and fitness, and her experience of personal sports injuries, encouraged her to re-train to allow her to support the health of the body and mind through osteopathy and Pilates. Diana now works full-time as a Pilates instructor, having retired from the General Osteopathic Council register of Osteopaths in 2017.

Diana’s ethos is to support the attainment of long-term health, believing that prevention is far better than cure. She loves helping clients to benefit from what she can offer as a Pilates instructor and a recently retired osteopath, and particularly thrives on seeing the results that people achieve in moving, looking and feeling better. Diana provides Pilates instruction from Durham Pilates Studio in Belmont Industrial and Business Park, Durham City, which is convenient for both Durham and the A1 (junction 62).

Whilst Diana initially qualified in Pilates as a matwork instructor, her passion for the work led her to undertake additional onerous training for the large Pilates equipment, with this equipment being designed and used by Joseph Pilates himself.

Diana’s comprehensive training and experience enables her to specialise in providing all clients with a personal touch, irrespective of whether their goals are for general fitness or for rehabilitation. Diana has developed a reputation for providing Pilates tuition of the highest quality that meets individual needs in a caring, professional and friendly way. This is evident from her testimonials.

Diana obtained her Pilates matwork and equipment qualifications after completing the highly regarded Pilates Foundation training programmes. She graduated with Distinction from the globally recognised British School of Osteopathy in London and also qualified as a sports masseur after training with the leading London School of Sport and Remedial Massage. She is fully insured to teach Pilates (matwork and large equipment), and to provide hands-on physical therapy/sports massage treatments.
